This script will add a light source to a game object and simulate fire on it, through a flickring effect on.

You can set the range and intensity of the light;
You can set the light color.

Getting Started:
Add it as a script component to your game object.

Done:

-A light source component is required itself now.
-Better visualization into the inspector: spacing, header and tooltip text.
-Controls into Unity Inspector for better customization and parametrization.

*Feel free to use it as you wish. You don't need to give me any credit for it.

Do you have a sample unity project? I cannot seem to recreate the sprite lighting.

Hi @hamackj!

I can make a sample project and update the project tomorrow night.

It is really a good idea... sorry I did not think this before.

Hi!

I just uploaded an Unity sample project showing the usage!
